Canyon County scenic byway approved

A new scenic byway that runs through Canyon County and the heart of the area’s wine country was approved Thursday by the Idaho Transportation Department.
The Snake River Canyon Scenic Byway will run along Map Rock Road following the Snake River and eventually connecting with roads up through Parma.
Offshoots of the byway will eventually lead travelers to wineries and other agriculture establishments.
Steve Fultz, director of Caldwell-Canyon Economic Development, said the next steps is to create a logo for signage and a corridor plan.
That plan would help determine where kiosks and signage would be placed.
A grass-roots group of Canyon County residents worked together to create the byway proposal.
